Hello everyone!
My name is Lucas, and I’m passionate about travel, always looking for authentic and immersive experiences. Recently, I had the opportunity to enjoy a French immersion stay in Provence with Virginie, a French teacher who is deeply passionate about her region. Between French lessons, Provençal gastronomy, and discovering the famous lavender fields of Provence, this experience became much more than a simple language trip.
My immersion in Provence with Virginie

Breakfast and French lessons in Provence
Each day began with a friendly breakfast made with local products. It was the perfect opportunity to practice French in a relaxed and natural atmosphere. After breakfast, I had three hours of French lessons with Virginie in the form of conversations, exercises, or a combination of both depending on my needs.
My main goal was to improve my listening comprehension and speaking fluency. We spent a lot of time discussing various topics such as Provençal culture, local traditions, travel, and the gastronomy of southern France.
Virginie likes to say, “Working makes you hungry!” After our lessons, we always shared a delicious Provençal lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients.
Discovering the lavender fields in Provence

During my language stay in Provence, I dreamed of discovering the famous lavender fields of the Valensole Plateau. Virginie advised me to go very early in the morning to avoid the arrival of tourist buses and fully enjoy the light and peaceful atmosphere of the area. Our excursion therefore began at dawn.
A magical sunrise over the lavender fields of Valensole
A Provençal lunch near the lavender fields of Valensole

After this magical morning, we headed to a small traditional restaurant located in the heart of the Provençal countryside. For lunch, we enjoyed delicious stuffed Provençal tomatoes served with potatoes. The meal was accompanied by a glass of Provence rosé wine, the perfect complement to this sunny escape.
This authentic Provençal lunch was fully part of the immersive experience offered by Virginie in Provence.
Visiting a lavender distillery in Provence

In the afternoon, we visited a traditional Provençal distillery specializing in lavender essential oil production. Virginie explained the different stages of production, from cutting the flowers to extracting the essential oil. I found it fascinating to discover the combination of traditional know-how and modern techniques.
This visit helped me better understand why lavender has become such an iconic symbol of Provence. Before leaving, I bought a few sachets of dried lavender from the distillery shop — the perfect souvenir from my trip to Provence.
An unforgettable language and cultural immersion in Provence

This day spent in the lavender fields will undoubtedly remain one of the most beautiful memories of my immersion in Provence.
Beyond the magnificent landscapes, this experience allowed me to practice French, discover Provençal culture in an authentic way, and experience the rhythm of life in the south of France.
Why choose an immersion in Provence with Virginie?
