Where to eat in Rousset near Aix-en-Provence? My favorite restaurants during a stay in Provence

Those who know me know that I love to eat… and that I can eat quite a lot! What I especially love is discovering new flavors and sharing my favorite places.
If you come for a French immersion stay in Provence, I can recommend the best restaurants in Rousset and around the Sainte-Victoire mountain. And yes… I also love champagne 🍾. I’ll happily share the cuvées Alex and I have approved.
Here are my favorite restaurants near the house.
Le Bistrot Grand Boise in Rousset
Let’s start with my favorite: Le Bistrot Grand Boise in Rousset.
No, it’s not because it’s only a five-minute walk from the house. It’s simply a place I truly love. As soon as you step inside, you discover a beautiful tasting area and a boutique where you can sample the wines of Château Grand Boise. I especially appreciate their organic wines — fresh and elegant — soon to be certified biodynamic.
The boutique also offers regional products and a few Provençal delicacies, such as calissons. A few tables allow you to sit down, but if you walk a little further, you’ll reach the restaurant and its terrace.
The 1920s-inspired décor gives the whole place a refined and elegant atmosphere. It makes you want to sit down and enjoy a drink. Since Covid, the menu has been available in digital format. When I’m with Alex, I like to choose a table near the fountain. When I meet my circle of women, I prefer the tapas area outside, on the sofas or around the barrels. Two rooms, two atmospheres!
A special mention to Thibault and his team for their exceptional welcome. It was at Grand Boise that I celebrated my 40th birthday with a glass of Monial — one of my favorite champagnes.

Les Bannettes in Rousset
This restaurant has been open since 1950. Alice and her team welcome you in a cozy dining room with a fireplace in winter, and in an outdoor paillote in summer. The view of Sainte-Victoire mountain is simply
magical!
The first time we went, we had just celebrated the 40th birthday of a couple of friends.
That day, we didn’t try any wines or champagnes. We had lunch in the paillote, surrounded by pine trees, listening to the sound of cicadas. So pleasant! The restaurant is located along the roadside, but we were not bothered by the noise of cars at all. The service was excellent. We plan to return to experience the winter atmosphere and to try new dishes.
The menu at Les Bannettes changes with the seasons. All the products are regional and high quality. During the summer, musical evenings are organized every Friday. The restaurant is only a five-minute drive from the house. I have also always received very positive feedback from students who have dined there.

The view of Sainte-Victoire mountain is simply magical. It is one of the main highlights of this restaurant near Aix-en-Provence. The first time we went, we had just come from celebrating friends’ 40th birthday. We had lunch on the terrace, surrounded by pine trees, listening to the sound of cicadas. A truly Provençal experience.
Despite its location along the roadside, we were not disturbed by traffic noise. The service was attentive and professional. The menu at Les Bannettes changes with the seasons, featuring regional, high-quality products. The cuisine highlights Provençal gastronomy in a friendly atmosphere.
In summer, musical evenings are held every Friday, adding a festive touch to the experience.
The restaurant is only five minutes by car from the house, making it an excellent option during a French immersion stay in Provence. Students who have dined there have always given me very positive feedback.

Le Déjeuner sous l’Arbre in Rousset
Le Déjeuner sous l’Arbre in Rousset was one of the first restaurants Alex and I discovered when we arrived in the region. It was here that I tasted Philipponnat champagne for the first time, on our wedding anniversary. Is it my fault if there is always something to celebrate? No… we agree 😄
We have always received excellent advice, both for the dishes and the wines.
Surprisingly, I have never eaten on the terrace — yet it is absolutely possible to sit beneath the magnificent two-hundred-year-old plane tree that gives the place its charm. Inside, the stone-walled dining room creates a warm and elegant atmosphere.
The cuisine is generous and refined, and the chef brings a true artistic touch to every plate. It is a wonderful gastronomic address in Rousset, perfect during a stay in Provence.

L’Éveil du Goût in Rousset
Highly appreciated for its “good food” (and I stand by that expression!), L’Éveil du Goût in Rousset is often fully booked.
Several times, my students have not been able to have dinner there because it was already full. My advice: book your table at the very beginning of your immersion stay in Provence.
Located on the village square of Rousset, the restaurant offers:
a welcoming indoor dining room
an outdoor terrace depending on the season
In summer, you can request a table near the fountain — and you know how much I love fountains… 😊
The restaurant also offers a menu with excellent value for money, making it a great place to discover local Provençal cuisine without going overboard.
